If you like your wings super crispy, just place them under the broiler for the last 5 minutes.
KETO SWEET AND SPICY CHICKEN WINGS
Ingredients
- 18 chicken wings
- 1 red bell pepper
- 1 tsp. extra virgin olive oil
- 1 tbsp. butter
- 1 small yellow onion
- 1 garlic clove - minced
- 1/2 cup tomato puree
- 1 tsp. apple cider vinegar
- 1 tsp. paprika
- 1/4 tsp. chili powder
- 1 tbsp. coconut aminos or soy sauce
- 1/4 tsp. Dijon mustard
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. pepper
- 1/2 tsp. brown sugar substitute
- 3 tbsp. water
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F
- Slice the bell pepper in half and remove seeds and stalk and place on a lined cookie sheet.
- Rub in olive oil and a pinch of salt and roast in oven for 30 minutes.
- Flip halfway through.
- While the bell pepper is baking, heat a frying pan and sear chicken wings on both sides for approximately 2 to 3 minutes.
- Place wings on lined cooking sheet and bake in 400 degree oven for 30 minutes.
- When the bell pepper is done baking, remove skin and dice.
- Add the diced peppers to saucepan along with garlic, tomato puree, apple cider vinegar, paprika, chili powder, brown sugar, dijon mustard, water, salt and pepper and let simmer for 5 to 10 minutes.
- Allow the sauce to cool.
- When sauce has cooled, use an immersion blender to mix until smooth. You can use a blender if you don't have an immersion blender.
- When wings have baked for a half hour, remove them and brush the sauce on them.
- Place back in the oven for 15 minutes.
